About the Royal Military Police

The Koninklijke Marechaussee (Royal Military Police) is a unique gendarmerie force with both military and civilian law enforcement responsibilities. As part of the Ministry of Defence, we serve as the national police force at airports, guard borders, provide security for the Royal Family, and support international peacekeeping missions.

Mission

Our mission is to safeguard national security, maintain public order, and provide specialized law enforcement services. We operate at the intersection of military and civilian policing, ensuring the safety of Dutch citizens and visitors at critical infrastructure locations.

Responsibilities

The Royal Military Police is responsible for border control, airport security, protection of high-value persons and locations, military police duties for the armed forces, international peacekeeping operations, and specialized investigation and enforcement tasks.
